Dodge Lemon Law: Warranty, Dispute Program & Your Rights

The short answer

Your state’s lemon law covers a new Dodge or Ram. FCA US’s warranty asks for written notice before lemon law remedies, offers a non-binding NCDS program, and contains a binding arbitration provision you can opt out of within 30 days of delivery.

Dodge muscle cars and Ram pickups are built to be used hard, and when one keeps going back for the same fault, owners want to know their options. State lemon laws cover them like any other new vehicle.

Dodge and Ram are made by FCA US LLC, the same Stellantis company behind Jeep and Chrysler. We read the 2025 Dodge warranty booklet; Ram booklets carry the same arbitration notice and core coverage.

How long state lemon laws protect a Dodge

With 3 years / 36,000 miles of basic coverage, your Dodge’s warranty usually outlasts its lemon law window. A two-year state closes the window with 1 year of warranty to go; a one-year state, with 2 years. Repairs in that gap are free, but they rarely count toward a buyback.

Three years1about the same time the basic warranty ends
Two years211 year of basic coverage still left
18 months318 months of basic coverage still left
One year232 years of basic coverage still left

Many windows also stop at 12,000 to 24,000 miles, long before the 36,000-mile limit on a Dodge warranty. Find your state’s exact rule in our state guides, or check your Dodge repair history against your state’s window.

Dodge’s dispute program

Dodge and Ram owners do not use BBB AUTO LINE. Section 1.4 of the 2025 Dodge booklet describes the FCA US Customer Arbitration Process: a voluntary, non-binding review by an independent organization, the National Center for Dispute Settlement. It costs nothing, is offered in every state and, per the booklet, usually wraps up within 40 days. Claims go in writing to NCDS at P.O. Box 515315, Dallas, TX 75251-5315.

Section 1.5 is the one to read before any lemon law claim. In states whose law permits it, FCA US makes written notice of the service problem a condition of lemon law remedies, so it gets one more chance to repair. Elsewhere it simply requests that notice.

Dodge’s arbitration clause

The front page of the 2025 Dodge booklet flags a binding arbitration provision (section 1.7). Once it applies, either side can push a dispute into private arbitration rather than a courtroom; an individual small claims case is still allowed. Using the NCDS process, or a government-sponsored arbitration program, is not affected.

Getting out of it is time-limited. You have 30 days from taking delivery and signing the dealer’s Arbitration Acknowledgment Form to mail a letter, stating your name, VIN and that you are opting out, to FCA US LLC Office of the General Counsel, 1000 Chrysler Drive, CIMS 485-13-62, Auburn Hills, MI 48326-2766. Miss that and the provision binds you.

Things Dodge owners should know

  • Ram trucks used in a business, or heavy-duty Rams over a state’s weight limit, may fall outside some lemon laws. Check your state’s coverage rules.
  • Aftermarket tuners and performance parts can lead to warranty denials. Keep the vehicle stock while a defect is open.
  • Send written notice to FCA US even if your state does not require it; the booklet asks for it.

What to do if your Dodge is a lemon

  1. Within 30 days of delivery, decide on the arbitration opt-out and mail the letter to FCA US if you want out.
  2. Keep your Dodge or Ram as delivered while the defect is open, and get every visit on a repair order.
  3. Send written notice to FCA US; the booklet requires it before lemon law remedies where your state allows. Our notice letter generator drafts it.
  4. Use the free, non-binding NCDS Customer Arbitration Process if you want a decision before court.
  5. File in your state’s program or court before the deadline, checking weight and business-use limits for trucks.
